FAQ's of The Floor Trust

Your new hard surfaces (not carpet), need to be installed over a relatively smooth surface (subfloor) so they don’t end up all lumpy and stupid looking. The catch is, nobody knows the condition of the subfloor until install day. We know we’re going to need to sweep up and lay at least one pass of floor patch before install, so we include that in your price (basic prep). Extra prep is whatever is beyond that. Every unit will have a unique situation. We send our crews out prepared for 80% of scenarios. If it’s messed up down there, they figure out what it takes to get the subfloor ready and what that costs. Then give you a change order before they commence work. This gives you a chance to look at the problem if you question the extra cost. That’s how we end up without scary stuff on your invoices.

When your vendor wants to make it more difficult for you to get a competing estimate, they just make up a name for the product and put that on the sample label or estimate. This can also be so that they are not obligated to provide a specific product, just a basic set of attributes (aka “spec”). Now they can feel comfortable switching between products and manufactures that make them a better deal. That new product may not be a better deal for you though. This whole process is a scam. We won’t do it.

Itemized estimating and invoicing doesn't mesh with Multifamily Floors. Itemizing is a tedious process that is rife with errors and lost human hours, working it all out on both our sides. We believe that if we offer you an estimate with a clear scope of work, your materials declared, a lump sum for the service then it will help everyone involved. So this is what we do. We have this thing called “The Trust Clause”. Whenever you want, you can come by the HOT (House of Trust), ask for a Trust Agent and tell them you’re enacting the Trust Clause. They will take you to their work station and open up your account and show you whatever you like. We have nothing to hide from you.

We will, but only upon request. Measuring is more art than science. You can send 3 people or even 3 different measure apps into a unit and they’ll all come out with different quantities. We simply don’t want our competitors to benefit from our hard earned skills more than necessary. These estimates end up in the competition's hands frequently. They be chasing these coat tales out there.

Responsibilities and skill set. FTAs (Field Trust Agents) are focused on the customers interests onsite. They are concerned with understanding the nuances of each property, products and applications, attacking trouble, quality inspections, measurements, samples and estimates. Every property is assigned their own Field Trust Agent. TA’s (Trust Agents) are the brains of the whole operation. They are based at the HOT (House Of Trust). Because it causes prices to be higher. Floors are expensive and we would need to side with our customer every time a verbal order was disputed. You, as our customer, would ultimately absorb the cost of everyone else’s missorders in your price. We accept online, and estimate based orders for this reason.
